Joe Colsant

Joseph Colsant, a partner at Fawell and Associates, has been practicing law for over 17 years.  After working as an intern with the Cook County State's Attorney's Office he was hired as a prosecutor in Dupage County.  During his time as a prosecutor, he gained invaluable experience handling thousands of criminal cases and honing his trial skills by conducting hundreds of bench and jury trials. 

 

Joe began his career as a criminal defense attorney in 2004, focusing his efforts on protecting the rights of persons accused of committing criminal offenses.  Joe has successfully defended thousands of clients against criminal charges ranging from DUI and domestic battery to home invasions and armed robbery.  An avid defender of the 4th Amendment to our United States Constitution, Joe has a passion for representing those charged with narcotics possession and distribution.  As a criminal defense attorney, he represents clients through Dupage, Cook, Kane, McHenry, DeKalb, and Kendall County as well as clients charged federally in the United States Federal Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

 

Over the past 14 years, Joe has also dedicated his legal expertise to the practice of Immigration and Nationality Law, focusing on family-based immigration, complex naturalization, political asylum, waivers of inadmissibility, deportation and removal defense, immigrant and non-immigrant visas and appeals.  He regularly practices law before the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration Court, the Board of Immigration Appeals, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the United States Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit.

 

Joe has maintained professional membership in the Illinois State Bar Association, the Dupage Bar Association, the Dupage County Criminal Defense Attorney's Bar, the Kane County Bar Association, and the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
