Jeff has been practicing criminal and immigration law for over 35 years. He has successfully represented clients charged with reckless homicide, delivery of a controlled substance, domestic battery, DUI, and sexual assault.
Jeff began his legal career as an Assistant Public Defender in DuPage County. Jeff is a strong advocate for the rights of individuals to be free from government intrusion. Jeff stands alongside his clients during their entire case, as when he risked fines and jail times to protect the rights of his client.
Jeff is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, the DuPage County Bar Association, DuPage County Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys, the Kane County Bar Association, and NORML (National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws).
Hon. Blanche Hill Fawell (Ret.)
The Honorable Blanche Hill Fawell was appointed as an associate judge in DuPage County in 2001. She was elected a Circuit Judge in 2008. When she was assigned to the Criminal Division she presided over 70 jury trials including murder, aggravated criminal sexual assault, home invasion and delivery of a controlled substance.
Judge Fawell also served the Presiding Judge of the Domestic Relations Division where she heard a juvenile call including cases of delinquency and abuse and neglect.
Judge Fawell began her legal career as an Assistant State's Attorney in DuPage County where she was the supervisor of the Domestic Violence and Child Abuse Unit.
Judge Fawell is a member of the American Bar Association, the Illinois Judges Association, and the DuPage County Bar association.
Judge Fawell has lived and worked in several Latin American countries and is fluent in Spanish.
Joseph Colsant, a partner at Fawell and Associates, has been practicing law for over 17 years. After working as an intern with the Cook County State's Attorney's Office he was hired as a prosecutor in Dupage County. During his time as a prosecutor, he gained invaluable experience handling thousands of criminal cases and honing his trial skills by conducting hundreds of bench and jury trials.
Joe began his career as a criminal defense attorney in 2004, focusing his efforts on protecting the rights of persons accused of committing criminal offenses. Joe has successfully defended thousands of clients against criminal charges ranging from DUI and domestic battery to home invasions and armed robbery. An avid defender of the 4th Amendment to our United States Constitution, Joe has a passion for representing those charged with narcotics possession and distribution. As a criminal defense attorney, he represents clients through Dupage, Cook, Kane, McHenry, DeKalb, and Kendall County as well as clients charged federally in the United States Federal Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
Over the past 14 years, Joe has also dedicated his legal expertise to the practice of Immigration and Nationality Law, focusing on family-based immigration, complex naturalization, political asylum, waivers of inadmissibility, deportation and removal defense, immigrant and non-immigrant visas and appeals. He regularly practices law before the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration Court, the Board of Immigration Appeals, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the United States Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit.
Joe has maintained professional membership in the Illinois State Bar Association, the Dupage Bar Association, the Dupage County Criminal Defense Attorney's Bar, the Kane County Bar Association, and the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
Dan was born and raised in DuPage County. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Colorado. He earned his Juris Doctor from Southern Illinois University School of Law. At Fawell and Associates, Dan focuses on criminal law and secretary of state issues.
During law school, Dan clerked for the Honorable Judge John W. Darrah, United States District Judge for the Northern District of Illinois and for the Cook County State's Attorneys Office 3rd District.
Upon graduation from law school, Dan served as an Assistant State's Attorney in DuPage County for over seven years. During his time at the State's Attorney's Office, Dan was assigned to the traffic division, misdemeanor division, domestic violence court, felony courtroom, felony screening, narcotics unit, and the sex crimes unit. During his time at the State's Attorney's office, Dan prosecuted charges including attempt murder, sexual assault, reckless homicide, drug-induced homicide, controlled substance trafficking, and manufacture and delivery of controlled substances. Dan successfully litigated over one hundred trials during his time at the State's Attorney's Office.
Dan is a member of the DuPage Bar Association and Illinois State Bar Association. Dan is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
